The Sixth Division Family Engagement
and Parental Responsibility Program

The Family Engagement and Parental Responsibility Program addresses issues faced by families whose children become the subjects of FINS cases.

This court-ordered program is set up to provide help for parents of juveniles who have come into contact with the juvenile justice system as a FINS case.

The court provides a checklist of goals and objectives to guide parents in instilling life-style changes to create an improved family environment in the home which encourages behavior improvements of all children in the household.

The court monitors progress in accomplishing these goals and provides supportive services to help the family to achieve compliance with the list.

The ultimate goals of the program are to reduce the number of parents who rely on court and government assistance, to reduce the number of siblings who come to court and to break the cycle of children born out of wedlock.
